Crazy Lace Agate belongs to the chalcedony family, microcrystalline quartz. Its original patterns in the shape of an eye or a swirl were formed when lava and silica-rich volcanic ash collided. Its variety of colors depends on the composition of the ash. The brown color is due to the presence of manganese oxide, the orange color to iron oxide and the blue or green color to copper oxide.
